Dr Vincenzo Pavone
Dr Vincenzo Pavone's educational and research background is strongly interdisciplinary and is based on studies of history and philosophy of science, political theory and, more recently, science and technology studies. His research interest focuses on the cultural, political and social aspects of globalization in relation to the interaction between science, technology and society, with a special focus on civil society organizations. More recently, he has been focusing on the social and political implications of the new medical biotechnologies, on the evolution of the relation between science and democracy, on the relation between science, technology and politics.
Recent research projects focus on the concept of the reproductive bio-economy, its emergence and consolidation, but also the policy implications and the mechanisms of governance associated with assisted reproduction and regenerative medicine in the EU (BIOARREME). Methodologically, he is familiar with qualitative research methods, discourse analysis techniques and historical research methods.
